Energize That Energy!

 


Teaching energy is a lot more fun with great games and websites! They're like the energizer bunny for your energy unit!  It's even better when they are FREE! I hope the ones I've found below make energy not only fun for your students, but easier for you!!



This is a great site for teachers and students.  There's even a teacher's guide!


This is a great site for teachers!  When you click on "learn more" you get free PDFs and teaching guides!



This game is all about Kinetic, potential and thermal energy. It's from BrainPop so you know it's good!



Don't mss this great site! It has 33 interactive activities for energy!


This is a great game !


This You Tube rap is terrific for fourth and fifth grades! I like that it also includes the text!

Electrify Your Energy Unit!



Don't let your energy unit run out of "juice"! Check out the terrific links below to energy videos, activities and just plain fun stuff to give your energy unit SPARK!


Kids answer five answers about wind power correctly to light up each window of the home. Get all five and they win!

This game takes some time, but is terrific. Students have the opportunity to choose they type of power that is used for a city, use funds to build it, and discover the impact. 

This is another game in which students choose natural energy sources to save the world. Very educational and fun at the same time! Great for fifth grade!

This is a great site from Scholastic just FULL of energy study jams…includes heat, sound, light, magnetism and SOOOO much more!!

Help kids understand conserving energy with this great activity from National Geographic!

This game is perfect for review before the test! You can choose the number of teams to play this Jeopardy type game!

This is a short PowerPoint presentation about energy…be sure to check out the other energy PowerPoints on the right hand side. It says it is for 5th grade, but this and many others are good for 3rd and 4th as well! Very well done!

Featuring: Force, Motion and Energy!




Force, motion and energy are science strands kids really enjoy! It takes a lot of hands-on activities and fun games and videos to bring it to life. Magnets, kinetic and potential energy, simple machines and so much more! To help with teaching this fun unit I have included some great online resources below. Enjoy!

Power Up! All About Energy!





Teaching energy is FULL of so many fun activities!  It's one of those units that kids can really get into, plus I love teaching energy! Would you like some free energy resources?  First I've provided a fun freebie to kick off your unit, then some great sites that give you online activities, as well as fun experiments to do with your class!

Start with some slam-dunk videos!  This one is Bill Nye on potential and kinetic energy...it doesn't get any better!


Kids Academy does this one called: "What is Energy?  Types of energy: Light, Heat, Water, Electrical and Wind

Your kids will love this one! Full of sounds, great pictures and lots of information!!

Need an online energy game for centers? Try this one!



Energy 101: How is Electrical Energy Generated? This is a great video that goes over the many ways of getting electricity. It starts with the question, "How many people does it take to turn on a light bulb?"   The answer is, more than you would think!
